And I've landed!

I've made it! I flew in to Norway and met James safely and amazingly easily. We spent the morning in the National Art Gallery and checking out the Palace. Though there have been some crazy downpours, all in all it's been great so far! We just checked into our hotel, and it's quite amusing. It's a permanently docked shipped that and we're staying in a little room with bunk beds - quite hilarious. Off to dinner now, but I'll try to update soon.

And I'm Off!

So here we are. In about an hour I will be heading off to the airport (thanks again Liz!) to begin my big adventure. I can't believe it's actually happening...I'm SO excited. Amazingly enough, my bags are all packed and I'm ready to go.

I have no idea what kind of internet access I will have along the way, but I will do my best to post as many updates as I can, with a few pictures if possible. I'm hoping to at least get a quick post up tomorrow to let everyone know that I made it safely and successfully met up with my travelling partner, James. (Especially for you mom! :))

It's Coming...

I still remember the feeling when I pressed the button. Purchase ticket now. The exhilaration mixed with sheer terror as I leaped headfirst into this adventure. $1000 from my bank account and a few deeps breaths later, and I had finally reserved my round trip ticket to Norway/Iceland.

That was January. And since then this trip has seemed so very far away - like a tiny speck in the distance. But now, quite suddenly, it's here. Exactly two weeks from this moment I will be seated on a plane headed for Norway. Just over 330 hours. Holy Crap.

Today was the first real day of physical preparation. I went to REI and spent an ungodly amount of time and money getting "supplies". Of course there were the necessities: good rain coat, good warm fleece, day hiking pack, hiking boots. Then there were the things that just seemed so necessary at the time. The packable pillow. The supposedly amazingly absorbent full size travel bath towel. A handy passport carrying case. Oy. I'm out of control.

And so very excited.
